JO MEURIS

After receiving her BFA in Animation from Concordia University in 1998, Jo Meuris worked for eight years in the Montreal animation industry. Six of those years were spent at the National Film Board of Canada, where she first worked as an animator and then directed two films of her own (An Aqueous Solution, completed in 2003, and The Girl Who Hated Books, completed in 2006).

In the fall of 2006, Jo moved to Los Angeles to pursue an MFA at the UCLA Animation Workshop. She completed the requirements for her first and second years concurrently and is now working on her thesis, a study of the human body in motion.

On the rare occasions when Jo is not animating, she can be found training in the discipline of Parkour, taking long walks along the beach, or watching the sunset from the top of the Ferris wheel at Santa Monica Pier.
