jenstuff & Jen Frankel - FAQ
Q: Just who is this Jen Frankel person anyhow?
A: Jen Frankel is the award-winning creator of Maggie Stuart, heroine of "The Last Rite," and the published author of essays, short stories, novellas, poetry, and non-fiction, as well as a produced playwright and screenwriter. She wrote the beautiful anthem "Open Your Heart," a tribute to victims of the southeast Asian tsunami, and was a semi-finalist in last year's prestigious Final Draft screenwriting competition for her sci-fi comedy, Minnie Finster.
Q: You going to post "Minnie Finster" on the website?
A: Soon... for now, you can read the short story "The Sack of the Redmond Line's Gerrald" on which it was based. If you think you can handle the Fat Ladies' Mafia.
Q: Hey – didn't I see you on Facebook?
A: I hope so! Come and visit me and be my friend or join jenstuff! for all the latest updates on postings here.
Q: What's this WILDsound thing?
A: WILDsound is the monthly short film and screenplay festival hosted by Wildcard Pictures, a film production house in Toronto. It's also the fastest-growing filmmaker resource on the web for entertainment news, industry columnists, and online short films.
Q: Can I get involved?
A: WILDsound and jenstuff are all about participation. Think about submitting a short film or screenplay to the WILDsound Festivals, or entering any of our contests (posted usually on the main page). Keep watching jenstuff for more ways to join our online community.
Q: I'm enjoying "The Last Rite" – is it coming out as a book sometime?
A: There are still some copies of the original 2002 printing of "The Last Rite" available either at amazon.com or booksurge.com, my publisher. The new edition should be out by Christmas; watch the website for preorder information.
Q: If I really like a painting on your site, are any of them for sale?
A: Contact jenstuff through the contact form above, and we'll let you know. Even if individual original works aren't for sale, prints may be available.
Q: Do you really look like your picture?
A: Does anyone? ...I mean, the jury is out on that one. I'm just lucky to be EXTREMELY photogenic... At the very least, I can promise that my pictures are recent and NOT photoshopped.
Q: Do you have any advice on getting published?
A: Never take advice from someone who's been published fewer times than you! Seriously, a lot of those seminars and workshops on "How To Get Published" are worth less to you than a little leg work and a lot of envelopes and postage. The biggest part of getting published is persistence. Remember, you miss a hundred percent of the opportunities you don't take. Anne Rice apparently got a hundred rejections for "Interview With A Vampire" before someone published it. A pretty damn good book, and I think the effort was probably worth it for her and the people who decided it was worth printing...
Q: What's next for jenstuff?
A: Lots more poetry, a new music section with lyrics, and an invitation to you, the reader, to contribute your own ideas to a futuristic world concept. For a sneak peek, find Kuprum...
