Jeff Hackett has had a love for film for as long as he can remember. As a youngster, he was armed with a 8mm camera that barely left his side, but in his rowdy highschool days, during an extremely drunken party, that camera was demolished. It was a sad day for Jeff, but he vowed to find another camera to make a real movie of his own one day.
Some 5 years later, he took a film course at UNB, while working towards his degree in Political Science, and given his newfound access to equipment, Jeff decided to make his first real short film, entitled OVERKILL. With a mini DV cam, shotgun mic, 150 watt soft lightbulb, and help from friends, OVERKILL was filmmaking in it's rawest form. Since, Jeff has joined the NB Film Co-op, and has volunteered on various shoots in an effort to learn more about the art of moviemaking.
His next movie "Thin Ice," is currently in postproduction, and is also in the vein of action and exploitation cinema. "OVERKILL fans, few as they may be, are gonna love "Thin Ice." I made it just for them, and I had to sacrifice my apartment to do it!," says Jeff.
His film OVERKILL played at the WILDsound Film Festival in August 2008
