I am a film studies graduate with over 10 years experience in film theory and screenwriting.
Since graduating, I have worked as a film critic for a group of regional newspapers (Observer Standard) seeing my reviews printed in 12 newspapers around the midlands region for a period of 2 ½ years. I also wrote articles for the newspaper, rounding up the year’s releases and what the upcoming year had to offer.
My reviews were noted for their quick wit, incisive look at production aspects and for being fair and balanced.
I have a specialist interest in silent cinema, particularly films originating in Scandinavia and Germany, released between 1910 and 1930. I have an excellent working knowledge of the stars, directors and major works produced during this period, as well as a complementary knowledge of American cinema during the same time.
In my spare time, I write my own screenplays (I am currently working on two) and regularly attend screenings of silent films at the Barbican and the National Film Institute.
