Jarred Thomas has a passion for art, specifically the art of filmmaking. This passion led him to study Radio/TV Production in college where he worked on a short documentary film titled Over the Ropes. The film followed the friendship between two wrestlers who return to the ring after a six year absence to settle a score.
His role included writer, director, and editor using Avid Media Composer. The film has been sent out to several film festivals and was screened at the Unison Arts Center in New Paltz, New York. The production experience provided Jarred with the set of professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills necessary for an aspiring filmmaker.
During college, Jarred worked as a staff writer for the on campus newspaper, The Oracle, while also working as a writer and camera operator for the on campus TV station, WNPC-TV. In addition, he created a comic strip for The Oracle during his sophomore, junior, and senior year.
After graduating, Jarred interned at several film and television production companies in New York City and gained invaluable experience. The responsibilities of the internships varied, including, writing treatments, Production Assistant work, and administrative duties. Jarred, however, aspires to become a professional screenwriter and will continue to watch and study films to gain more experience necessary to become an established writer.
