by GRANT FOXON (Please note America is deliberately misspelled to be the same as Kafka’s spelling Amerika). It was a day, much like the other days. Temporally speaking it did indeed follow on as much like the pattern of life. However there was a subtle difference. A strange people now ruled the day, a people of consumer slavery and obesity. These people now sought with their newfound dominance to shape the globe as they saw fit. It began with fast food and ended with cholesterol. It saw the intelligence replaced with ritual purchasing of debt. Where the worth of a man is not measured by his courage or his soul but by the limits of his overdraft. “Welcome to Amerika!” cried the soldiers of the world leader as they marched from country to country expanding their borders and helping to change those countries to additional states. In Amerika a hierarchy is based on skin tone. “For now you are free!” cried the soldiers. Some resisted. Marxism and Kafkaism and freedom fought the marching armies of soldiers and fast food outlets. The response was carpet-bombing and mass slaughter and then they people were made obese. They soon found God and loved Amerika. “We love you! More Pepsi! More coke!” cried the conquered nations hooked on Amerikan beliefs. “The only false idol you need worship is us!” cried the soldiers with their marching economy engulfing these peoples. The wave of Amerika swept over the globe. All succumb. None could resist. Now everyone was dumb, now individuals were missed. The globe was conquered those who resisted were slain. Amerika ruled the world. White people laughing whilst those black were given the important roles of janitors, cleaners and shop work. “Fear not you are all safe now! Do not ask what we can do for you, but what you can do for us!” cried the Amerikan President. Everyone agreed he was a very nice man. This one wasn’t assassinated, well not straight away. Although the Ku Klux Klan felt his foreign policy was going slightly awry. In the end Amerika denounced God altogether. It was decided that he was no longer economically viable and instead the economy became God. Huge churches were built and people prayed daily. But the economy rarely answered. I hope you come see us soon in Amerika. We only want the best, after all the way to hell is paved with good intentions.
