Marie, a female vampire with a conscience, decides to restrict her feeding requirements to the violent Pittsburgh gangsters who are at large in the city. Marie's victims become vampires themselves if she fails to permanently immobilise them, so when this happens, the gangsters become a serious problem which she has to fix.

The streets outside roared with life. Conflict and lies lit up the shadows hiding in dark alleyways. A cold edge kept everyone on their toes, and nobody was to be trusted. And nobody would ever suspect her, and it was time to feed.

Her rules kept her alive, but tonight, those rules would be broken. And one mistake would spin out of control, giving a dangerous man a taste of power and immortality, and she would only have a small window of opportunity to stop him. But she was not the only one hunting him, and his fate would rest in her hands.

The crime scene was disturbing, and the body slumped over in the car belonged to his friend. He would have thought that someone had put a hit out on him, but more blood was missing than found. He needed to dig deeper into his ongoing investigation, figure out what took place, but he was caught in the crossfire of the press. And his cover was blown, and now that they knew that he betrayed them, they would be out for blood, his. But that wouldn’t stop him from chasing after a dangerous syndicate of crime.

Vampires are not supposed to exist, but then Joe met Marie. Her beauty caught him off guard, but he would not allow himself to become her next victim. Her intentions mirrored his; to get Sallie (The Shark) Macelli, who slipped through both of their fingers, but her rules did not apply to him. But he found himself trapped, stuck between her and a syndicate of crime that had become even more deadly.

Blood flowed through Marie’s hand, and she pressed it tightly against her stomach. Her mistakes were washed away in red, and her rules were broken. There was only one thing left to do, and she hurried down the street. The sun would be rising soon, but as she waited for its rays to find her, Joe hurried to her side. Was that love shining in his eyes or just compassion? It didn’t matter because he would not let her die. Instead, he led her back into the darkness and away from the sunrise.

A dark tale of love and lust plunges through the heart, holding it in suspense and intrigue. Conflict and terror deliver in a driven storyline that weaves together the fabric of crime and the haunt of fiction, and the bite of comedy sinks in deep. The complexities of characters come to life through the touch of talent, and drama and horror keep us riveted, awaiting the end.
