Ian Tang graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce, specializing in Accounting, from the University of British Columbia and has been a Project Manager in the high-tech, education and health care industries for the last 20 years.

In 2008, Ian entered the entertainment industry as a writer and producer with no formal education or training.

His first film, “Curse of the Jade Dragon,” which examines the levels of racism society is willing to accept, won the Grand Prize at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival, Movie-Making Competition.

His second film, “No Means No,” won the Grand Prize and Audience Award at Bloodshots Canada “48 Hour Movie-Making” Competition. Stuart Gordon, director of the cult hit “Re-Animator” said of the film “No Means No really creeped me out and the ending was quite demented. I can't believe this movie was made in only 48 hours. It makes me feel a bit pampered and lazy!"

In 2009, Ian’s third film “Ignite Inferno” was short-listed for the prestigious Vancouver Crazy 8s competition where the concept was lauded as “challenging, innovative and important.”

Ian would like to encourage anyone who wants to write a film to just go ahead and do it, even if you don't know anyone in the industry. There are many people out there who are absolutely willing to give their time, talent and equipment to help you out.
