Movie Reviews by the Popcorn Reviewers
The "Hitman" (Timothy Olyphant) is a genetically-engineered, elite assassin known only as Agent 47. His hallmarks are lethal grace, unwavering precision, and resolute pride in his work. But even 47 couldn't anticipate a "random equation" in his life exactitude: the unexpected stirrings of his conscience and the unfamiliar emotions aroused in him by a mysterious Russian woman (Olga Kurylenko). Robert's Review I have never played the video games, but from a movie standpoint "Hitman" doesn't have much to offer. It's about an assassin who gets double-crossed and winds up taking care of a prostitute who constantly keeps trying to have a 'good time' with him, but he just won't let her. Then when all is said and done and the main bad guys are dealt with, all he can do is follow her around like a little assassin puppy and watch over her. There wasn't much in the way of dialog and the action was pretty cookie-cutter as far as Hollywood 'shoot-em-up' action movies go. I was hoping for a lot more plot and intrigue about how the hitman came to be, how The Organization worked, and so on… but all they showed was a really awkward pseudo-dating scenario between a hitman and a prostitute. I'm still confused at that… did they originally have a good script and lose it right before they started filming, so they just started filming random crap and somehow THIS became a good movie idea? All in all, I'd give this movie 2 Professional Assassins (out of 5). Re-watch value: LOW Brett's Review None. He's on vacation visiting his family for Thanksgiving. ©2006-2007 The Popcorn Review, LLC aka "TPR, LLC". All Rights Reserved.
