We last left off finding out Maggie is really pregnant and Michael is probably the father. Also, Buster has found out Oscar is really his father and swims in the ocean to spite his mother – and a loose seal bites off his hand. Buster makes this episode. His storyline is fantastic and absolutely hilarious. I love how he goes from being super happy and in good spirits one minute to throwing a temper tantrum and screaming at everyone the next. Even the small things he used to do (like give people shoulder rubs) are affected by this and he now finds himself stabbing people in the shoulder with the hook he now has for a hand. I love how he is attacked by a “loose seal.” Say that quickly and you come up with “Lucille.” Pure genius on the writer’s part. He goes into the ocean to spite Lucille…and is attacked by a “loose seal.” Yes! The return of the literal doctor! I love how every time a Bluth family member ends up in the hospital they get the same doctor whom they all hate. The doctor comes up to them and says Buster is going to be alright… and of course they are relieved to hear this. But what the doctor means to say is that Buster is going to be “all right” because he no longer has a left hand. On a brighter note, Buster no longer has to be deployed to Iraq because of his hand. He tells everyone the seal with the bowtie is his hero. This strikes Gob’s attention…because he recently released a seal with a yellow bowtie after failing to have it help him with a magic trick. Gob now believes Buster losing his hand is his fault. Due to the trauma of the situation, Buster has also forgotten the nature of his argument with Lucille and doesn’t remember finding out Oscar is his real father. He’s in great spirits and taking it like a man. But all of a sudden just starts bursting into a tantrum at Michael. I love when Buster yells, “Get the f*** out of my room!”
Now…is Maggie lying? Is she actually telling the truth for once? We find out in this episode. In a way…yes, Maggie is lying…and in a way, yes, she’s actually telling the truth for once. After many loops and turns, we come to the realization that Maggie is not pregnant…but her client Loretta (the one claiming she’s fat) is. Loretta is carrying the child of two gay cops. It was, in fact, Loretta’s urine that Tobias and Lindsay sampled in the previous episode and the fake belly they found really belongs to Maggie (who also has a latex fake belly – the one that made Michael believe she really was pregnant). Michael and Maggie realize nothing can ever become of their relationship because they cannot trust each other. But, just like last season, they reach a moment of weakness and make love. This time not in a courtroom --- in a hospital bed. One storyline I could do without is Maeby tricking her way into a job on a film set. It’s not that funny and when these scenes come on I find myself wanting them to quickly be over so we can go back to the more interesting plots. But with Buster’s outstanding storyline more greatness is to come. This episode is definitely a step back in the right direction.
HAND TO GOD
