11 Questions with GRAHAM JONES. A WILDsound FALL 2008 Feature Screenplay Finalist

1. What is your screenplay about?

THE DEVIL'S OWN WORK is about how the friendship between two flawed men, Ulysses S. Grant and William T. Sherman, enabled them to destroy one nation and save another.

2. Why did you decide to write this screenplay?

I wanted to explore the psyche of Ulysses S. Grant, a very unusual and complicated man.

3. How long have you been writing screenplays?

Five Years.

4. What is you all-time favorite film? (name only one)

TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A.

5. What artist in the film industry would you love to work with?

THE DEVIL'S OWN WORK was written with Russell Crowe in mind to play US Grant.

6. How many screenplays have you written?

Twelve features, two spec teleplays.

7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?

Directing my features. (Hopefully sooner than 5 years!)

8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?

Once I get "that feeling" I simply attack. Although I take classes at UCLA Extension, that have helped as well.

9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

Polo.

10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Script Contest?

It is very professionaly administered and it has a lot of "heart".

11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

UCLA Extension classes are excellent, and if you don't live in L.A. you can take their classes online.and
