Good Luck Chuck Movie Reviews Directed by Mark Helfrich Starring Dane Cook and Jessica Alba It all started when Charlie Logan (Dane Cook) was 10 years old. Breaking the cardinal rules of spin the bottle, Charlie refused to lip-lock with a demented goth girl--and she put a hex on him. Now, 25 years later, Charlie is a successful dentist...and still cursed. While his plastic-surgeon best friend, Stu (Dan Fogler), pursues as many of his patients as possible, Charlie can't seem to find the right girl. Even worse, he discovers at an ex-girlfriend's wedding that every woman he's ever slept with has found true love--with the next guy after him. Before he knows it, Charlie's reputation as a "good luck charm" has women--from sexy strangers to his overweight receptionist--lining up for a quickie. A life filled with all sex and no love has Charlie lonelier than ever--that is, until he meets Cam (Jessica Alba). An accident-prone penguin specialist, Cam is as hard-to-get as she is beautiful. But when a genuine romance develops, Charlie realizes he's got to find a way to break his good-luck curse...before the girl of his dreams winds up with the next guy she meets. ROBERT'S REVIEW "Good Luck Chuck" is a mixed bag. It has some of the funniest scenes I've seen since "Superbad" and some of the most disturbing and repulsive moments I've seen in some time. At times I and the rest of the audience were laughing so hard it hurt, but at other times we were so utterly disgusted and visually violated that all we could do was close our eyes and shudder. If you thought the naked man on man fight scene in "Borat" was bad… you haven't seen anything yet! "Good Luck Chuck" pushes the boundaries and really goes for the "Ewww!" factor several times. However, the rest of the movie was pretty charming, funny and very entertaining. Dane Cook must have had the time of his life making this movie… he got to play with LOTS of beautiful naked women. What a wild and crazy behind the scenes adventure that must have been. Overall, I really liked most of the movie, but at the same time the other nasty and gross stuff really took a lot out of the movie. BRETT'S REVIEW Ok so the idea that some random guy is a good luck charm is kind of farfetched, however I would love to be that guyJ. I thought overall this was a funny movie even if all the jokes didn't work well together. I also must admit seeing Jessica Alba in her underwear was very fun indeed, however a romantic comedy still needs to have more laughter to it and this had some slow parts. I did enjoy Dane Cooks performance and Dan Fogler was a great support for Cook. I guess I was hoping for more from this movie, and I know some folks will disagree with me but I just felt like there was something lacking. Overall, a good movie but there is no real need to see it on the big screen. One other thing I think I might be a good luck charm so women encouraged to apply at brett.hunt@thepopcornreview.com LOL. Overall Rating: 3 Penguins (out of 5). Re-Watch Value: Moderate (I will most likely purchase on DVD.) Trivia: (1) The movie poster for "Good Luck Chuck" is a take on a very famous "Rolling Stone" magazine cover of Yoko Ono and John Lennon (in which John was completely naked). (2) Jennifer Love Hewitt was offered the role of "Cam Wexler", but turned it down because of scheduling conflicts. The role then went to Jessica Alba. to Home
