REVIEW:

The hour was late. Doors and windows were locked. Nobody was awake, and the streets outside were quiet. And it was time for sleep, but the darkness was waiting. And under its cloak were the monsters ready to be unleashed.

We think we're safe. The doors to our homes lock into place, and the outside world cannot touch us here. Green lawns, friendly neighbors, and a peaceful street are the scenery outside our windows. Our darkest fears are the shadows clinging to the walls, but still we think we are safe. But do we really know what lies in wait? Do we really know who lives next door?

Movies such as Rear Window, Disturbia, and Arlington Road gives life to our worst fears. What if the man across the street was a far cry from Mr. Rogers? What if there were people living under the stairs? What if there was a Fright Night?

We never really know who lives across the street from us. We go about our daily lives and hardly give them a glance, if not a brief hello. Only curiosity would open that door to what truly lies beneath their facade, and once that can of worms is open, there is no turning back. And then you have no choice but to face what you fear the most, a man of darkness living next door.

Does reality create fiction, or does fiction influence reality? For one teenager, Charlie, who loves nothing more than vampires and vampire killers, his worst nightmare is about to come true. A scream from next door raises the alarms, and mysterious murders on the news creates suspicion. Is the new neighbor next door a suspect, or is there more to him than he knows?

Caught in the act, Charlie watches a body is loaded into a car, but his cover is quickly blown. And now that his worst fear is confirmed, terror lays claim to what comes next. For him to survive, his salvation may rest in the hands of fiction, but if the stories are not true, then how will he defeat the one coming for him, the vampire living next door?

Fright Night is a chilling movie touching on what we fear the most, the unknown. The main character is the reflection of youth, curiosity, and the struggle against a darkness revealed, and through the actor, we meet a young man fighting for his life. And with high stakes and a race against time, this storyline grips you from start to end, a true tale of terror. And it will make you wonder what really lies within the dark, and should we worry about who is living next door.
