WILDsound Feedback Film Festival January 2007 Event

WILDsound Feedback Film Festivals are held every month at Toronto's National Film Board (140 John Street, Toronto).

    This month's feedback film festival will be hosted by David Weaver, director of CENTURY HOTEL and SIBLINGS, as well as the celebrated short MOON PALACE. He's one of our favorite moderators - a knowledgeable guy with great insights and even better stories! Buy him a drink after the show and maybe you'll hear some of them.

    Unlike other film festivals, the central idea of WILDsound Feedback Film Festivals is to give audience members a chance to share their comments and criticisms with the filmmakers in a moderated forum right after the screening, and to let filmmakers respond.

    GOODBYE KARRIE by Melanie Chung
    Keith is devastated by the loss of his young daughter, Karrie to a tragic accident. Soon after he meets a new love in Susan, through the common pain of losing a loved one. His relationship with her gives him a renewed hope. but betrayal and conspiracy is entangled with Karrie’s death.

    THE FATHER, UNBLINKING by Ziggy Attias
    A father discovers his young daughter dead of fever. While composing himself he decides to hide the girl in the barn so he may prepare his wife for dire news. But after approaching his wife in the kitchen he is unable to confront her with the death of their child.

    GIRL WITH A WALKMAN by Melina Leon
    A TV News reporter recounts the story of a lonely Japanese girl whom she calls 'the girl with a walkman'. This mysterious girl, lost amongst her broken dreams, fails to commit suicide and tries to escape into a catatonic existence, until she meets a sensitive African-American nurse.

    CATCH AND RELEASE by Andrew Hamilton
    The script was read at our Reading Series event in June of 2005
    Scott's chance encounter with his old fishing buddy Charlie forces Scott to question his personal philosophy. Good friends as kids, both have little in common now as grown men, and deal very differently with fate's unpredictability.

    LETTER TO LIZA by Jason J. Brown A young woman receives her father's written response to her plea for haven. This experimental drama places a live actor into the hyper-real environment of a computer-generated 3D Toronto and explores the devastating impact of parental judgment on the fragile psyche of a child. Nominated Best Experimental Film, Female Eye Film Festival 2006.

    ORANGE SARONG by Sherry Soules
    He is waiting. She is waking. Based on the poem, Orange Sarong, this film is about finding serenity. While waiting on a beachside bench for a late appointment, a businessman lapses into a fantasy about a woman in an orange sarong.

    A priest tells his psychiatrist about his private life. And the psychiatrist has something extraordinary for him to drink to make him feel better

    THE WRIGHT BROTHERS by Ford Austin and Scott Ingalls
    When not fixing bikes, the Wright Brothers team up with President Theodore Roosevelt & use their amazing “Flying Machine” to fight crime, vanquish “evil-doers”, and preserve the American Way!

    At a moment of crisis, a young man reconnects to a childhood memory.
