REVIEW:

Storm clouds gathered overhead, and a drop of darkness fell toward me. The light faded from my sight, and a chill walked down my spine. Murder was in the air, and the streets would soon run red. And the evil of what men do would flow across the newspaper tomorrow, and their cold acts of violence would leave us shaken, broken. And if I did not fear to look inside the heart of darkness, what would I see lying deep within? Would it be not the face of men but the true essence of what we call evil?

A wise man once said that we live divided. Two sides engaged in battle, and we must pick a side. Or we would live torn apart. Do we choose to do good, or do we give in to evil? And once the choice has been made, the battle will be at an end, but the actions that we commit from that point on will alter our lives forever.

The time for execution was approaching, but the prisoner sat back in ease, speaking in tongues. His eyes set upon the man, who caught him, and he warned that this was far from over. But only in time would the man before him realize what he really meant.

And shortly after his death, the prisoner kept his word, and the life of one detective began to turn into chaos. And as murder peeled back the layers of a case thought closed, a dark realization begins to surface, and the detective, who has hunted the criminal, becomes the hunted. And as pieces of the puzzle begin to open his eyes, the true evil appears.

As tragedy surrounds him, there is no escape. The hunt continues, and innocent lives are on the line. And the only answer is to go back to the beginning and to finish what another had begun, and the trap is set. And now time is on his side as the darkness hovers close, threatening to consume everything that he is, but who will overcome who? And will the evil finally be laid to rest?

The world of homicide detective John Hobbes was always black and white, answering the call of duty and bringing criminals to justice, but fate had other plans in store for him. And on the heels of one serial killer’s execution does the detective find himself facing the impossible, hunted, and with nowhere to turn, and as the threads of his life get torn apart, his search for answers leads to one decision. And there is no turning back once that decision has been made.

We tell ourselves that evil does exist, and the war between good and evil has been waged for centuries. Heroes and villains surround our lives, and their stories inspire some to follow the light while others fall into darkness. And we wonder if truth does lie behind the myth of angels and demons, but do we really want to know the truth? Once our eyes are open, there is no turning back, and the life of one homicide detective will echo our own. And we will find ourselves living a story similar to the one in the movie, Fallen.
