I’m an ambitious writer and film-maker from Newport, South Wales with a love for British film, westerns, gangster films, cult classics and anything that’s got a great story. As a huge fan of Dr Hunter S. Thompson I studied Media and Journalism at Swansea University for a year before swapping my studies to Film and Video at the University of Wales, Newport where I achieved my BA Hons degree. After studying film from all over the world and trying my hand at the various discplines within film-making I found my real passion for writing was fiction and not journalism. After my degree I have continued to work occasionally in independent film-making as a first Assistant Director and over the next year I hope to find more and more work. I also continued to write, and write, and write.
Last March I began studying part-time towards my Masters of the Arts Degree in Screenwriting for Film and Television at Royal Holloway, University of London. I am continuing with my studies and will be finished in January 2011. On the course I have been developing my writing skills and perfecting my craft as well as working towards developing a 6 x 60 minutes TV serial for my final project. By the time I finish my MA I plan to have a portfolio of writing work in different lengths and disciplines in order to find myself a literary agent.
The films I love are Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas, Twin Town, Human Traffic, The Godfather, Goodfellas, Harry Brown, Nil By Mouth, Blow, Training Day, Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting, the three original Star Wars films, The Dark Knight, Once Upon a Time In the West, Once Upon a Time In America, Donnie Brasco, Any Given Sunday, Napoleon Dynamite, Shawshank Redemption and most James Bond films.
