11 Questions with DHANAJAY SAHAL. A WILDsound SPRING 2009 Feature Screenplay Finalist

1. What is your screenplay about?

“Never Forget” is about a lady army officer who, after a traumatic mission, drives cross-country with a near stranger, slays some modern day dragons and falls in love.

2. Why did you decide to write this screenplay?

Honestly, it was a muse that came out of nowhere.

3. How long have you been writing screenplays?

This is my first effort at writing screenplays.

4. What film have you seen the most in your lifetime?

The 1980 Hollywood film “The Shining”.

5. What artist in the industry would you love to work with?

Jim Carrey in Hollywood, USA and Aamir Khan in Bollywood, India.

6. Who was your hero growing up?

Unquestionably, Ronald Reagan!

7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?

In five years, I would like to be an established writer-director of Hollywood films.

8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?

I create an outline first. Then, I work that outline out into a screenplay. Finally, I repeatedly re-write that screenplay till I am satisfied.

9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

Flying, swimming, driving, and girls.

10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Script Contest?

The reputation of this contest as a “career-launcher”.

11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

I am a beginner at writing, but I would certainly say that persistence pays!
