PODCAST with DEVIN LIM - Devin chats with Matthew Toffolo about his short film GRIMOIRE, the awards it won and how it got him a got in the industry
DEVIN LIM - My short film 'Grimoire' was the result of 5 months of work for my final project while studying at Sheridan College in the Computer Animation program in 2007. Grimoire went on to be screened at the Official Toronto One Minute Video and Film Festival, the ShortsNonStop.com February film competition (winning first place for $1k), and the World Wide Short Film Festival.
Shortly after completing the animation course I was hired to work at C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures - a Toronto-based company that produces digital visual effects and animation for feature film and television. I am currently working as a Lighter on the kids television show Super Why! - a recent nominee for outstanding education for preschool education. My task is to set up the lights and shadows for characters and sets. I overlook the shots for rendering and lighting glitches.
I was recently featured on the cover of Sheridan's 2008 alumni magazine 'Ovation'. The article consisted of an interview between myself and Bob Munroe, Sheridan alumni of 1985 and president of C.O.R.E. We discussed the animation industry, where it was and where it's heading.
