David Weaver graduated from the University of Toronto, where he received the Norman Jewison Fellowship for Film Studies, and Columbia University’s Graduate Film Program. He has directed five short films, including the award-winning “Moon Palace,” which has screened at nearly forty film festivals and won over a dozen international awards.

Weaver made his debut as a feature filmmaker with CENTURY HOTEL, starring Colm Feore, Mia Kirshner, Tom McCamus, Raine Maida (OUR LADY PEACE) and Chantel Kreviazuk. It premiered at the 2001 Toronto International Film Festival and was released in Canada by TVA Films and by ThinkFilm in the United States. It received two Genie nominations.

Most recently, Weaver directed SIBLIINGS, written by Jackie May. It starred Sarah Polley, Nicholas Campbell, Sonja Smits, and Alex Campbell. The film premiered at the 2004 TIFF to critical acclaim. It was released in Canada by TVA, in the United States by Monarch, and world rights were purchased by Harmony Gold.

Weaver frequently reviews books on cinema for the Globe & Mail, and is an occasional contributor to Toronto Life and various other magazines. He is a moderator for the WILDsound Feedback Film Festivals.
