Born and raised on the mean streets of Chicago, David James Lewis grew up with an edge only the concrete jungle can provide. Sound unreal? It is, he’s from South Vancouver, British Columbia.
David’s first taste of acting was the role of ‘Spinning Top #2’, in a grade three Christmas pageant, some of his best work. High school brought Fiddler on the Roof, West Side Story, and girls, girls, girls. He was bitten.
Cutting his teeth on many commercials taught him how not to look into the lens and the ‘joys of looping dialogue’.
Climbing the ladder towards Canadian Stardom (oxymoron?) he paid his dues with one-line jobs such as, ‘line three chief’ and ‘Mulder, we’ve got a problem’. After landing the lead in the 1999 Best Short Film in Cannes called “Shoes off” it was time for David to get serious.
David’s previous experience includes television roles “Kyle XY” as well as recurring roles on “The L Word” and “The Guard” to name a few. Guest Star roles include “Eureka” and “Dead Zone”. Film career highlights include working with William H. Macy on the award winning movie “Door To Door”, and more recently working with Ashton Kutcher and Michelle Pfeiffer on “Personal Effects” and on CBS’ TV series, “Harper’s Island”.
David loves to act and when not doing TV or Features he continues to turn his attention back to his roots with shorts and indie films. A huge believer in giving back to the local community it is here that he is able to exploit his boundaries with unconventional storylines, playing complex, emotional and unorthodox characters that David feels ultimately can often be the most rewarding roles.
So between acting, golf, and Madame Cleo’s massage emporium life is pretty damn good for this Canadian kid and the possibilities are endless.
