David King's Blog

David King was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. The son of a set dresser and a jazz vocalist, David was called to the arts almost immediately. He began his artistic expression with what he still calls his first love, music. David is an independent hip-hop artist and songwriter. His stage name is Divine Verbal Dialect, or DVD for short. His music deals in life's everyday stories and lessons, and appeals to a wide audience. He released an album in 2005, and his songs have been featured in films and television programs.

David's occupation is art directing for film and television projects. Following in the footsteps of his father, retired set dresser Leon E. King, and his brother, production designer Leon A. King, David is professional, handy, set-savvy, and has a keen creative eye. David has been around film and television sets all his life, from his childhood acting days, to his summer jobs as an assistant to his father and brother.

David will write weekly on his experiences as an artist and Art Director working in Los Angeles.

April 28th - David talks about Art Direction on Indy Films

March 25th 2007 - David talks about What he Thinks, What he Knows
