It is basically about a guy trying to figure out the best way to break up with his girlfriend.
2. Why did you decide to write this screenplay/What influenced you to enter the WILDsound One Page Screenplay Contest?
I first heard about WILDsound on an e-mail I got. I took some time exploring the website and reading several articles and ended up on the ONE PAGE Screenplay contest page. The idea got my interested right away and I began trying to come up with a simple idea.
And I have always liked how some people are brutally honest and don't seem bothered by it.
3. How long have you been writing screenplays?
I began writing when I was 13 year old (six years ago).
4. What is your all-time favorite MOVIE? (name only one)
The Godfather Part II. Hands down.
5. What artist in the film industry would you love to work with?
Director of Photography Roger Deakins Composers James Newton Howard and Philip Glass
6. How many screenplays have you written?
I've written 4 short films and have been working on my first feature for the past 11 months.
7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?
Ideally? Living in New York City, having my own independent film production company, directing and producing my feature films and developing miniseries for HBO.
8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?
I do have a process regarding feature films. Very logical, simple method: Begin with one sentence (theme), work up to three sentences (beginning, middle, end), make it into a three pages general outline, and from there moving on to the index cards (most important stage, structure-wise) and the two-liner outline. Then I'll go straight into the First Draft. Of course, I couldn't apply this method into an one-page screenplay. Mainly because of its structure. Generally, one-page scripts tend to be comic, working in a similar way to jokes: there is the set up, followed by the punch line. A very appropriate style for such a small amount of time, works beautifully.
9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
Artistic Photography (not that mobile-phone-pictures-for-posting-on-Facebook kind of crap), Directing, Non-Linear Video Editing, Films Studies.
10. Why should people vote for your screenplay?
It is a very straight-forward story, and has the simplicity as its main merit. It is a curious look at what goes through Eli's head while he chooses between the politically correct and the honest.
11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?
Yes. Don't lose your head worrying about formatting and plot. Focus on the emotional story. A good story can survive a bad formatting. A good formatting will never survive a bad story.
