11 Questions with DAN BORENGASSER. A WILDsound SUMMER 2009 Short Screenplay Finalist

1. What is your screenplay about?

“Pale Priest of the Mute People” is about Rudy Fenster who discovers that he’s not quite ready when Death comes calling.

2. Why did you decide to write this screenplay?

I have no idea where these things come from – I probably experienced some unimaginable trauma as a child.

3. How long have you been writing screenplays?

About 10 years – but who’s counting?

4. What film have you seen the most in your lifetime?

“Monty Python and the Holy Grail”

5. What artist in the industry would you love to work with?

Tom Hanks

6. Who was your hero growing up?

Anyone who was funny

7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?

Making a living with screenplays and/or stage plays.

8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?

I try to advance a writing project almost every day, even if it’s only entering a contest or jotting down plot points or bits of dialogue.

9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

Double crostics, macadamia nuts, electronica, movies/plays and, of course, the lovely Mrs. Borengasser

10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Script Contest?

I was tantalized by an email from WILDsound.

11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

Write because you find the process gratifying, not because you want to be a “writer” or make a sale.
