Cybel Martin is a New York based Director of Photography - see her website Magic Eye Film. Her work takes her all over the globe, most recently to shoot a documentary in South Africa and teach Cinematography in Nigeria. She has gathered some notoriety as being the only African American woman to graduate from New York University with an MFA in Cinematography. When she is not focused on her DP career, Cybel busies herself with her painting career - check out her work at cybelmartin.com, her charity, Fed Artist and writing her first book on how to be a successful freelance artist.
Her blog will center on the joys of being a female DP, the Independent NYC film community and observations on how her and her friends manage to be freelance and happy.
