I (Christopher Stacy) was born in Chippewa Falls, WI, which is perhaps best known for being the town that Jack Dawson was from in "Titanic." I've lived most of my life in the suburbs of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN. When I was less than two years old, I was diagnosed with a severe cancer that I had about a 1-in-1000 chance of surviving. But twenty major surgeries and countless hospitalizations later, here I am.
I've been writing creatively my whole life, being recognized as early as 3rd grade for my writing skills at a statewide conference for young authors. I was awarded a scholarship by my high school newspaper for my outstanding contributions to the paper over the years. I spent several years in the casino business, first as a professional blackjack player, making enough to live off of for several years. The life proved to be too stressful, so I crossed enemy lines and worked for the casinos for a few years. After another serious health scare confined me to bedrest for the better part of a year, I took up writing again.
Never much of a book reader, but a big movie buff, I decided to learn screenwriting. Initially self-taught, I then went back to college and in 2007 received my B.A. in Screenwriting. Immediately thereafter, I was hired by an independent prod. co. in L.A. to pen a biopic about the life of Grigori Rasputin, the infamous Russian mystic and religious figure. "The Young Rasputin" exceeded my employer's expectations, and my script even made the rounds at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival.
"The Young Rasputin" is now in pre-production with a 2011 release date. I have just completed a new spec screenplay, "Hawkeye," based on actual events, set during the U.S. Civil War. All of my information can be found on my homepage, www.christopherstacy.com.
In my spare time, I enjoy listening to music, going to concerts and spending time with my dog.
