REVIEW:

We never see death approaching. Even in the happiest moments of our lives, we never expect it to walk through the door and change everything, and our world shatters. How do we go on? How do we pick up those pieces of a life that no longer exists? Could we ever find love again?

After death’s passing, we are left to live a life ripped open. Emptiness clings to us as we struggle to move forward. Memories haunt our minds, and mementos of them only made the pain worse. And how do you continue living when all you think of is the one that left, and what if they were not who you thought they were? What if the one you loved was really only a stranger?

They say that time heals all wounds, but how long would it take for their death to fade? In the wake of their passing, confessions are told, comfort is sought, and change continues. And the idea of loving someone else seems so wrong, but what if love can’t wait? What if life refuses to be put on hold?

In the movie, Catch and Release, we meet a girl ready for her wedding day, but fate has other plans. And when news of her fiancée’s death arrives, she is left to pick up the pieces of a life that will be shaken again by startling discoveries, leaving her questioning if she really knew the man that she was going to marry. Surrounded by close friends, she struggles to accept the changes that surface and come to terms with her loss, but life has a few more surprises in store for her. And love may be waiting in the wings.

With heart and soul, Jennifer Garner creates a character that draws us into what was a perfect life. Touched by the death of her fiancée, her character is confronted with conflict, loss, and a confession by a close friend that may put a strain on their relationship. The tension continues as an unexpected love begins to bloom, and revelations from her fiancée’s past will shake the foundations of her life. But through death, reflection will open another door, allowing change to rebuild what was broken, and life will begin again. And love will be waiting.

A beautiful tale of love and loss is portrayed in this intricate storyline. The depth of drama emanates through the talented cast, and a touch of comedy brings laughter and tears to the heart and soul. With every curve, every turn in the story, we are brought face to face with the challenges that come with life and death, and change opens our eyes to past and future. And the story continues, life goes on, and the impression of this movie is left behind.

Life and death are the hands that hold us. Love and loss are the strings playing across the violin. The touch of change will break and mold the foundation of our world. Past and future walk together, and memories hang as portraits along the corridors of our life. And we continue on, creating movies such as Catch and Release to capture the essence of humanity.
