11 Questions with Ashu Sahajpal. FALL 2009 TV Screenplay Finalist

1. What is your teleplay about?

The Logline: With the writers lacking decent sketches hours before air time, Liz tries to crack the whip by causing a power outage. Meanwhile Jack is tested as a parent when Tracy Jordon reverts back to a child over his fear of the dark.

2. Why did you decide to write this teleplay?

30 Rock is one of my favorite shows and I LOVE Tina Fey.

3. How long have you been writing screenplays?

6 years

4. What is your favorite TV show of all-time?

The Larry Sanders Show and The Wire.

5. What artist in the industry would you love to work with?

So many! Larry David, Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey and Howard Stern.

6. Who was your hero growing up?

Jem and Darcel Wynne, my favorite Solid Gold dancer.

7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?

Showrunner of my own TV show.

8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?

I don't have a specific ritual or routine except maybe procrastination, if you've never played the snake game online you have not lived. Massive time waster. But, once inspiration strikes it takes a lot for me to be pulled away from the keyboard.

9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

FOOD!

10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Script Contest?

It's one of the few places where you can get feedback.

11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers? Never give up. If you die trying you die trying, but you'll never make it if you give up.
