I was born and raised in the GTA, specifically Mississauga, to Chinese parents who immigrated to Canada from Hong Kong. I’ve been living here for sixteen years of my life and really don’t know much more. Suburbia is home to me, although I have always been interested in moving to an urban center because of the professional appeal and the culture I find so immersive in places such as Toronto.
It was midway through my first semester in 11th Grade that I truly became interested in film. Previous hobbies have been online gaming and procrastination, but film became a good time-waster for me as well. My Media Studies class introduced me to legendary directors and movies, and I was hooked on the aspects of film ranging from the history of modern cinema to the advances of special effects technology in sci-fi horror films. I’ve been watching movies ever since.
Combining my two passions, writing and movies, I found a pastime I could finally put some effort into. Since then, I’ve completed lots of screenplays; shorts and (close to) features, created student films for class, and am currently planning a web-series with some friends. After my last year at high school, I’m hoping into film production at university or college. I’m a young guy, but that just means I have more time to get famous.
