11 Questions with Anthony Lyle and Dustin Tilton. A WILDsound SPRING 2009 TV Screenplay Finalist

1. What is your screenplay about?

Converging at a charity auction, the Sunny gang juggles scheming,nostalgia and revenge. Frank reminisces about his time as a ‘Rebel Without A Cause,’ while Dennis and Dee try to bilk their real dadBruce out of inheritance money. All the while, the gang holds Charliein a special kind of compacted hell.

2. Why did you decide to write this screenplay?

Anthony: We are young writers honing our craft and working to turnthis into a career.

Dustin: Anthony lied and told me there would be money.

3. How long have you been writing screenplays?

Anthony: Since the future

Dustin: 1000 B.C.

4. What is your favorite TV show of all-time?

Dustin: The Get-Along Gang

Anthony: Batman the Animated Series

5. What artist in the industry would you love to work with?

Anthony/Dustin: Sarah Chalke (Susan)

6. Who was your hero growing up?

Dustin: The Predator

Anthony: Cannonball Dunham

7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?

Anthony: Not on Uranus

Dustin: Livin’ clean and free of my demons.

8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?

Dustin: I wake up in Anthony’s dungeon, shackled to a notepad. I’mthrown old Bud Ice and burnt Hot Pockets until I write somethinglegible. Then I give it to Anthony who ‘Tones It Down’, which meanstaking out all the swears and bullshit.

Anthony: Naked and smeared in Bear grease and Tiger blood.

9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

Anthony: I love the Texas Rangers!

Dustin: Leveling up my Orc Fighter-Thief

10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Script Contest?

Anthony/Dustin: We were looking for a serious critique of ourscreenplay and after receiving that, took the advice and hopefullyimproved the script for bigger and better things!!!

11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

Dustin: Mo Money, Mo Problems!

Anthony: You’re not as good as you think you are, you’re not as bad asyou think you are. We believe in you.

Dustin/Anthony: It's the funniest show on TV.

3. How long have you been writing screenplays?

Dustin: Since before I could read

Anthony: Since I was 15, so 11 years; without being paid a damn dime.

4. What is you all-time favorite film? (name only one)

Dustin: Strangers With Candy

Anthony: Beast Wars

5. What artist in the film industry would you love to work with?

Dustin: Don Knotts

Anthony: Tress MacNeille

6. How many screenplays have you written?

Dustin: More than sum: less than lots

Anthony: 3.14

7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?

Dustin: Employed, or moving out of my mom's house and into my sister's apartment

Anthony: In a new apartment

8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?

Dustin: Drink malt liquor; wake up next to a script

Anthony: Method writing

9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

Dustin: Cutting and styling women's hair

Anthony: I love the Texas Rangers

10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Script Contest?

Dustin/Anthony: Feedback – we knew we'd get something out of it.

11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

Dustin: Get a swear jar, but don't let it rule your life, because it's a jar.

Anthony: Develop a monstrous sense of personal hubris
