ANDREW KOSARKO - I was born and raised in West Haven, Connecticut. Growing up, my aunt ran a local video store and would forever be bringing me video tapes to watch. From an early age, I grew obsessed with movies. I can watch a good movie the same way people can listen to their favorite song. Over and over again, on repeat for times at end, and it just never gets old. It’s not just a “film buff” passion I have, but simply, an ever growing respect for the craft and the technique people put into the storytelling arts. The crazy dream I live for is writing for feature screenwriting, and up to this point in my life, 22 years of age, has all been studying. Some may call it being a couch potato, but when you taking note of what time certain kinds of moments happen during movies and find formulas, it’s a bit more productive than you think.
I’m a hero genre kind of guy. Well, to be honest, a hero/villain kind of guy. I love clean cut good and evil characters. That’s not to say I don’t watch other movies, but the best characters are always heroes and villains. They are what keep us coming back for the sequels. Characters who have strong passions and beliefs that never back down (although that movie was a POS) are what drive great films. But that’s just my take.
I bring with my reviews an extensive knowledge of films not only from my watching experience, but from writing, directing, producing and working on films as well. A graduate of the SCAD Film & Television program, I notice more things about how cameras move and the way a actor behaves in a particular scene than the average moviegoer. I’m also a 3rd degree martial arts black belt instructor and enjoy kicking ass when need be. ;-D
