Trained as an audio engineer, Andrew decided to switch gears and explore the world of video in 2007. His first effort was titled The Show, a mockumentary on small town teenage life that was shot and screened locally in his hometown of Fort Frances, Ontario.
The screening of The Show spawned an unintended career for Andrew. He went from trying to break his way into the business side in the music scene to consulting and providing video services to various companies and organizations within Northwestern Ontario. Video and film making is a rare practice in Andrew’s hometown of Fort Frances, but the success and response to The Show, along with the advent of online marketing and a new coming of the digital age created a demand for such services within the area.
After working on client’s projects for a couple of years, Andrew decided to once again venture into a self-produced project, this time with the intention of promoting the film towards the film festival circuit. Andrew wrote, produced, and directed A Good Indian, which was completed in early 2010. The film centers on themes from Andrew’s life as a non-status First Nations person.
Andrew is currently set to take a break from offering video production and consultation services. He has plans to move to Winnipeg, Manitoba and enroll in classes centered on creative writing in hopes of fine tuning and developing his craft as a film maker.
