Alison Smiley has worked as an actress in theatre, film and tv for several years. Her many stage credits include roles in NIGHT MOTHER; MY MOTHER SAID I NEVER SHOULD; MARY BARNES; FEMALE TRANSPORT; and RECKLESS (all Eclectic Theatre); A MAP OF THE WORLD (CanStage); A MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN (Theatre Newfoundland & Labrador); and HAVING HOPE AT HOME (Red Barn Theatre). Recent television credits include the upcoming THE ALTAR BOY GANG (Sienna Films/CBC) and THE PATH TO 9/11 (ABC). She has also appeared in a variety of short films and has participated in a variety of workshop projects with the Canadian Film Centre.
Alison has appeared in new works by renowned Canadian playwrights Florence Gibson and David Demchuk and has participated in workshops of new plays with Nightswimming and Buddies in Bad Times.
Alison holds a B.F.A. (Hons.) in Theatre from York University. She has also trained at Equity Showcase, ACTRAWorks, and The New School of Drama. At Classical Theatre Lab she has performed in master classes led by distinguished artists such as Christopher Newton, R.H. Thomson, Rosemary Dunsmore and David Ferry.
