Alexander Payne - Born in Nebraska in 1961, Payne entered the film industry following his education in other subjects. His directorial debut was 1995’s Citizen Ruth, and he earned critical praise with 1999’s Election. Payne quickly established his signatures of American satire and dark humor, going on to add About Schmidt (2002) and Sideways (2004 – Best Screenplay Oscar) to his critically appreciated and commercially viable repertoire. Alexander is one of few directors granted final cut on their films.
