Alan Barkley is an active screenwriter who has written features and shorts that have received awards in numerous competitions including First Place at the 2008 Vail International Film Festival in Colorado and the 2007 Praxis Screenwriting Competition in Vancouver. He has been a finalist in the Page International Screenwriting Competition, The Writers Place Competition, and CInequest Screenwriting Competition. His short script, Bar Flies, is in production with Hazard Pay Productions of New York with completion scheduled for early 2009.Alan has a BA from the University of Guelph and an MFA from NSCAD University in Halifax. “Knowing something about film writing gives me an appreciation for the ways stories can be told. I particularly like reading the screenplay for movies I’ve enjoyed to examine the structure behind the film.”
