A.E. Mitchell Bio

Born Andrea Elizabeth Mitchell in February of 1963; when she became a stand-up comic in 1981 she was informed that her full name was too long and she needed to cut out either she middle name or just use its initial. She has never been one to be completely helpful off-the-bat or simply do what she’s told, so she went for initials for both names, it worked for W.O. Mitchell and E.B White (and he wasn’t even a Mitchell) so why not she?

Once that was established, Andrea was able to confidently make her way through years of Second City training, be picked along side a classmate, Josh Morris, to be staff-writers for two TV shows “You Can’t Do That On Television” and “Turkey Television”. And that was only by the age of 22. Since then she has acted in plays, written and performed her own voice work for CBC Radio sketches and co-written two pilots for TV shows. All of her work has and continues to have a humorous slant on life’s events whether they it personal, social or political. Currently she is working on a sitcom of her own with the aid of CBC’s Comedy department called, “Life In The Retail World” and several short stories.
