Night time is really the best time to work. All the ideas are there to be yours because everyone else is asleep. I'm an artist, and the need to get inside myself and be creative and be other people is a part of who I am. I don't imagine I'll abandon that completely. After every movie, I always kick myself for the same things-didn't do enough, not enough variation, not enough interesting choices, too bland. Somewhere along the line I made the switch and was able to look at the bight side rather than the dark side all the time. Now I look at everything I have and think how lucky I am. If you have made mistakes, there is always another chance for you. You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing we call 'failure' is not the falling down, but the staying down. I like to think of myself as kind of a sculptor, only I sculpt people. Ask the right questions if you're to find the right answers. I'm an actor who hates dialogue and the present day and reality. I just want to make a point that it's not just great teachers that sometimes shape your life. Sometimes it's the absence of great teachers that shapes your life and being ignored can be just as good for a person as being lauded. When two people love each other, they don't look at each other, they look in the same direction. If we are completely honest with ourselves, everyone has a dark side to their personalities. There is so much more than that little space from 14 to 40. And if you cut that off and begin to believe that you are not good past a certain age, then you end up scared and insecure and afraid. That is definitely NOT beautiful. I think I'm an actor because I have very strong imagination and empathy. I never studied acting, but those two qualities are exactly the qualities that make for an activist. You can never judge your characters. You have to love them, really care about them. You're never just playing a villain or the crazy lady. I am most proud of my integrity and least proud of my cynicism. You cannot do everything at once, so find people you trust to help you. And don't be afraid to say no. You don't forget the movies, but you forget the details of them. I love being in the business I'm in-I do love being a part of a group of people that work well together. I love it when there's a connection. Acting is not about being someone different. It's finding the similarity in what is apparently different, then finding myself in there. One thing I've learned: You never know where life is taking you, but it's taking you. And it's absolutely true that male sexual behaviour and female responses to male demands change a lot when they start communicating - and the levels of the communication that I've seen on the ground in very, very poor areas are so high and I think why don't we have that here? Desperation is the perfume of the young actor. It's so satisfying to have gotten rid of it. If you keep smelling it, it can drive you crazy. In this business a lot of people go nuts, go eccentric, even end up dead from it. Not my plan. Don't be afraid of missing opportunities. Behind every failure is an opportunity somebody wishes they had missed. It's said in Hollywood that you should always forgive your enemies - because you never know when you'll have to work with them. Pain is such an important thing in life. I think that as an artist you have to experience suffering. I like exposing myself. There's not an awful lot that embarrasses me. I'm the kind of actress who absolutely believes in exposing herself.
