The fall 2007 reality TV show lineup is nearing its premiere. For those avid watchers of reality TV programming, I have comprised a list along with a brief description of the fall 2007 reality TV show lineup.
CBS is premiering a new reality TV show called “Kid Nation”. Which follows forty kids for 40 nights, with no adults. Their responsibilities are to prove that they can build a better world for a better tomorrow. It is set in the city of Bonanza, New Mexico, these kids ranging from the ages of 8-15; the kids will build their own world, facing adult issues and their own social issues associated with being a kid. Each episode will end with a town meeting and a kid walking away with $20,000 dollars, which will eventually lead to an ultimate prize towards the end. CBS is also returning its reality show that started it all, “Survivor”. Survivor China is set in the central province of Jiang Xi, claiming that the bar has been raised and the stakes are even higher, with a million dollars at stake, the danger is ready to begin.
NBC’s return reality show the “Biggest Loser” is claiming to be the biggest winner, well as far as the contestants go. The show is about over weight individuals who are put through a grueling diet, with the end result, a winner gaining a new body and some cash to go with it, $250,000 dollars to be exact. NBC claim’s that the show is an unscripted one-hour drama; I wonder how much of it is unscripted.
The CW network’s new series “Online Nation” is catered to those who live on the Internet. Instead of searching for hours scurrying the internet for the latest trends, videos, blogs, entertainment, etc, this new show does all the work for you so you know exactly what is in and what is not. “Americas Next Top Model”, is returning for another season run. Created by Tyra Banks, the show concept speaks for itself. It chronicles the life
of young women who compete for the chance to be contracted for $100,000 by Ford Models, a fashion spread in Elle magazine. Ashton Kutcher’s reality TV show “Beauty and the Geek is returning for another run also. It places intelligent men lacking social skills with beautiful women who lack intelligence. In the end both sexes learn a valuable lesson in life as far as confidence, equality, and respect for those who are different.
Fox’s “Kitchen Nightmare” is merely a spin off of Hell’s Kitchen, which Chef Ramsay will hit the road to help struggling restaurants find their success in a one week time period. “Don’t forget the lyrics”, is returning for another season, which puts contestants on the spot to sing the most popular songs without forgetting the lyrics. If they get it correctly the contestants will win a cash prize. “American Band” is a spin off of American Idol, which holds the same premise. Instead of searching for solo singers they search for multiple talents from all walks of music genres. They are all welcome for a chance to gain their fifteen minutes of fame.
ABC’s “Dancing with the stars” is returning for another run. The show puts celebrities in a dancing competition against one another for a chance to be crowned the best dancing duet.
Well there you have it, a brief description of the fall 2007 lineup for reality television. With some new reality concepts and some returning series, it is sure to keep the reality enthusiasm busy this season.
